Pays up to $175 per heating season ($750 for those who use bulk fuel oil, $600 for propane/bottled gas, $350 for wood or coal) towards energy costs. If a client brings all the necessary documentation, they should if they are accepted on the same day. Payment is sent directly to utilities and will be reflected within 60-90 days. Serves Portage County households with a gross annual income not more than 200% of poverty level. Either gas or electric service or both must have been disconnected or be in threat of being disconnected for household to be eligible. The program also offers education and benefits application assistance. Clients will need: proof of income for previous three months; Social Security numbers (mandatory) for all members of household age 2 or older; date of birth for everyone in household; a copy of current utility bill (must have account numbers for both gas and electric bills). Renters will also need their landlord's information (at least 2 out of 3 of name, address, and phone), and their lease agreement stating utilities included, if applicable.
