Crime Victim Services' (CVS) mission is to help victims prevail over the trauma of their victimization by assisting and advocating for safety, healing, justice, and restitution. Services include 24 hour sexual assault and domestic violence response, victim rights and hearing notification, court advocacy, assistance with victim impact statements, assistance with compensation and restitution, crisis counseling and referral, victim/offender mediation, Christian ministry outreach, and education for the public, legislators, and justice officials. The Elder Victim Ministry Program (EVM) at Crime Victim Services of Lima, Ohio serves individuals aged 60 and older in Allen County. EVM seeks to understand, prevent, identify and respond to elder victims of crime. Agency offers safety planning, trauma support, justice system advocacy, financial assistance, and mediation. In addition to providing social services, the Elder Victim Ministry is a Christian outreach. Staff and trained volunteers assist victims by offering friendship, referrals, and victim assistance. With permission and wisdom, we often pray with victims, seeking to strengthen their relationship with their community of faith. Weekly home visits by Elder Victim Ministry staff and volunteers follow up on potential or verified cases of elder abuse. Elder Victim Ministry conducts regular trainings on the signs and symptoms of elder neglect or abuse and how to report that information to local law enforcement agencies.
