DSAS is the mandated provider of adult protective services in Cuyahoga County. The agency assists with benefits check-ups for numerous programs including prescription drug programs, food stamps, Medicare/Medicaid, Lifeline program, homestead water discount, caregiver support program. HEAP, Homestead exemption, and tax credits. Calendar of benefits screening dates available online. The Community Office on Aging works across all of the Division of Senior and Adult Services and identifies new funding streams that enable DSAS to better deliver programs and services, and advocates for the passage of legislation that will improve the lives of older and disabled residents of Cuyahoga County. This office also facilitates communication among peer agencies by convening the Cuyahoga County Senior Services Network, which includes municipal offices on aging and community senior centers. Home support services are available to assist elderly individuals in remaining independent in their own home. Options for Elders is a flexible, affordable program that provides in-home care to older Cuyahoga County residents who, because of income and/or assets, are not eligible for PASSPORT or other Medicaid waiver programs. Services include transportation, emergency response, personal care, homemaker services, home-delivered meals, chore services, case management, and information and assistance. Services include benefits check-up, home support services, and the OPTIONS for Elders program. OPTIONS offers medical transportation, emergency response, adult day services, personal care, homemaker services, home-delivered meals, chore services, and information and referral. "One Call Does It All" is a centralized intake hotline for seniors and adults with disabilities. By calling the hotline you may access information about services available to seniors over the age of 60 and adults with disabilities ages 18 to 59 who are living in private residences. Basic resources offered by the program include benefits, income assistance, housing, medical care and ways to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation.
